The Island Soft breezes blow through the trees Sun has set coloring the island mellow Gone to bed are the buzzing bees They won't come out till their world is yellow
Will yellow be the color of tomorrow? Or perhaps grey with strong winds that blow Then a raincoat I may have to borrow The bees will miss the sun's warm glow
The sand is warm beneath my feet Warmed by the golden orb above A silver orb nods as they meet Moon changes places with sun with love
Now island is darkened so all may sleep Except for the night light, the moon Now awakened are the insects that creep Hoping morning doesn't come soon
And the owl with sharpened sight Hoping, looking for a meal of mice For mice also are awake at night And a meal of mice would be nice
I wander the darkling shore till dawn Though moon is still in her place And then moon is suddenly gone And Mr. sun takes her place.
So yellow will be the color of today The night creatures have gone to bed The bees awaken to their fragrant bouquet And I go home to get jam and bread
