Honeymoon Island The warm, moist air is heavy with perfume It drugs me. I am limp with desire I wait for her where the roses bloom Too long the wait I weary and tire
Looking up at her lighted window Catching glimpses of her form Wondering of the seed I'll sow When the marriage ritual I perform
At last she glides down the winding stair In a white gossamer thread Milky white skin and flaxen hair An hour later she lies dead
I meant not to kill her so quickly She was much too fragile and weak I hadn't known she was sickly A stronger bride shall I seek
I buried her 'neath the roses Red like the blood she did shed This part of my life now closes Now that my beloved is dead
I am doomed to hide on this island For the rest of my natural life This beautiful, fragrant Highland Alone without a wife
The fruit is large and succulent And will sustain me as long as I live To another world my beloved I sent I wonder if she will forgive
A stronger bride I cannot seek For I cannot show my face I am doomed to live a life so bleak For my deed I can't erase
I live among the roses with their heavy sweet perfume On a lost and lonely highland I am the brideless groom Sentenced here by my own hand
