Memories The lights are low The music plays The fire's aglow Grandma thinks of younger days
She was just seventeen Slender and trim A real beauty queen Her eye was on him
He was one year older Handsome at that "You're a beauty" he told her As he tipped his hat
They were married that spring She wore white. He wore blue He gave her a ring And promised to be true
He built her a house Deep in the wood Without even a mouse He'd give her the world if he could
Children they had A boy, a girl ,twins and a boy A proud mom and dad Children brought them such joy
The children grew Left home one by one Before she knew Her job was done
He left her one fall Got sick and died He heard heaven's call But he never lied
He was faithful and true All his married days Never made her blue He had gentleman ways
Grandma's now old And ready to go Her life was all gold His name was Joe
For her he waits She'll be there soon Behind pearly gates Under a silvery moon.
