Water's Edge
The two of them sat at the water's edge Beautiful was the reflection on the water from the sun Watching them as I was hiding behind the hedge The two of them cuddling as day was done
He never once in all our years held me that way Actually we were rather awkward together Being thirty years his senior he was bound to stray And we never said it would be forever
So he found someone new and thinner Some one he could take home to mother and dad Someone his parents could say that he found a winner As I watched them I was unexpectedly glad
Glad he was gone from my life so I could start over Though we had invested too many years When he was with me I knew he was a rover He made me sad and I had shed too many tears
Once a rover always a rover and she'll be crying too But my heart will heal and my memory of him will fade In the end, you mark my words, he will get his due For all the hurt he has caused he will be abuntantly paid
But I wish him well, I really do, I cannot hold a grudge He was just acting himself and could not be another I cannot, nor would I, ever the two of them judge Mom and dad like her that he chose, especialy his mother
So fair thee well the two of you. I hope you make out fine And if you ever walk my way please just walk on by For he is yours now and no longer is he mine I am happy now and he no longer can make me cry
