Deserted Island The boulder made a gaping hole in the bow The vessel began taking on water fast Passengers jumped into life rafts below To those in the water a lifeline was cast
Most were saved, but some were lost forever Non swimmers that couldn't stay afloat drowned To be seen by loved ones, by anyone, never Only by hungry, sharks could they be found
Afar off was seen land, was it inhabited or no? They paddled toward it, excited, but afraid Those that didn't make the life boats were in tow Everyone, man, woman and child prayed
They finally made land in late afternoon Wet, cold and tired, the white sand was welcome Lying on it, resting, 'til the early moon Shown in the sky. They all were shocked and numb
They lay there stunned 'til late morning light Beginning to stir each one and look around Decided to find food before the falling night And searched every inch of the Island ground
Trees loaded with succulent fruit of every kind Clear water to drink from a high water fall They looked farther to see what they could find And decided this Island could support them all
There was no human life in this wonderful place Just monkeys, birds, insects and wild bees They all decided this new home to embrace It would give them all peace and ease.
